Regular or Visiting Faculty (2027), Civil Engineering, Sharjah, UAE

The Department of Civil Engineering (CVE) in the College of Engineering at American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for a regular or visiting faculty position at the assistant, associate or full professor level commencing in Fall Semester 2027. The successful candidate for the regular position will be expected to establish a high level, active research program supported by internal and external funding sources. The visiting faculty position are primarily focused on teaching. The visiting position is a one-year renewable contract and the regular position is a three-year renewable contract.

The applicant is required to have a PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field and show evidence of a significant teaching portfolio. Excellence in teaching and research, in addition to experience in the American model of higher education, are highly desirable. Applicants for the regular position should be in the specialty of construction engineering and management and/or digital construction. Applicants for the visiting position can be in any specialty within civil engineering.

The required documents are a cover letter and a detailed curriculum vitae (including a teaching statement, a research statement, a list of courses that can be taught or were taught, and names of at least three references who would be willing to write letters of recommendation. The Department of Civil Engineering has approximately 150 undergraduate students, 65 graduate students, 15 full-time faculty and 2 lab instructors. Students and faculty represent very diverse backgrounds and nationalities; approximately 90 nationalities are present on campus. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Digital Construction Engineering and Management, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, a Master of Science in Construction Management, and a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

If the CV is not made as per the RULES of the ATS, the information will get messed up in the database. In the image below, 'PMP' has gone into the 'Mobile Number' column. The Mobile Number '052 1234567' has gone into the 'Main Skill' column.

So a recruiter searching for a candidate with PMP certification, will never find this person, in spite of his 'CV information' existing in the database...
