Billing Specialist, Dubai, UAE

Based in Dubai the Billing Specialist will be responsible for covering the UAE and KSA offices/Middle East Finance team.

The Billing Specialist will report to the Middle East Finance Manager and will be an integral part of the wider Gibson Dunn billing team.

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Finance.

Responsibilities include:

Produce pre-bills for Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Riyadh plus other Gibson Dunn offices where needed at the beginning of each month and upon request

Review and edit pre-bills in response to partner requests

Ensure execution of complex and accurate billing in a timely manner

Respond promptly to all billing related queries and when required, meet with partners to discuss billing

Prepare disbursement back-up documentation in-line with client requirements

Ensure daily tasks are completed in a timely manner in accordance with relevant FTA and ZATCA rules and legislation, as appropriate

Monitor and manage group mailboxes ensuring prompt and accurate responses to both internal and external billing or financial queries

Take ownership and follow up on outstanding tasks/items as needed ensuring bills are sent and properly recorded

Ensure relevant approval has been obtained for any special rates/agreed discounts

Obtain an understanding of the various matters that GDC work on to ensure prompt billing cycles; including chasing partners/fee earners regarding WIP to ensure tight billing deadlines are met

Work with the Intake and Compliance teams to ensure all KYC/CDD is completed and up-to-date

Prepare and submit the Riyadh office bills in the format necessary to meet local e-invoicing requirements

Production and accurate submission of invoices that are e-Billed

Regularly assisting the Accounts team in other areas within the accounting and finance function

Assist with reconciliation reports

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, based on department needs as required

Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

High level working knowledge of CMS Aderant is an advantage

Experience working with Microsoft Office Professional 2016 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Strong analytical skills

Detail-oriented in all tasks, including excellent proof-reading and research skills

Strong time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines

Ability to develop strong internal and external relationships, including ability to work effectively with people at all levels

Strong customer service ethic

Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities

Excellent judgment and decision-making skills

Experience:

At least five year’s professional experience in a similar finance position

Law firm experience is preferred.

Indirect Tax - Senior Consultant - Muscat, Oman

The opportunity

EY is looking for a Senior Consultant to join the Indirect Tax team to advise clients on VAT treatment of new and complex transactions and help resolve classification or other disputes and issues with the authorities.

Your key responsibilities

Client responsibilities

You are expected to work effectively as a member of a worldwide network of professional advisors, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication and updating senior team members on progress. You must also collaborate with a team of VAT professionals to combine diverse cross-border transaction experience with local tax knowledge across a broad spectrum of industries. Participating and assisting in preparing for meetings with management teams will be part of your role.

You will be assisting in preparing reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties. You will also develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel and build strong internal relationships within the VAT practice, Indirect Tax and across other service lines.

Technical responsibilities

You must build a deep understanding of the Customs Law and its practical application across the countries. You are expected to understand and apply the regional Free Trade Agreements and key customs concepts such as valuation, classification and origin. You will be identifying and discussing VAT considerations for clients to be aware of in their outbound investments. Engaging with colleagues in overseas offices to deliver VAT advice in respect of global jurisdictions will be part of your responsibilities. You will also prepare for the potential introduction of VAT in the different countries and to discuss with clients how this may impact them as well as work with internal teams to provide indirect tax expertise for audit and transaction projects.

Skills and attributes for success

You must be able to build strong client relationships & excellently communicate in a range of situations in both written and oral English. You should also be able to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to refer upwards. You are expected to be a client focused and commercially aware team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels. You must also possess project management skills, plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget. You should also be able to solve problems creatively and pragmatically.

Qualifications & Experience:

A degree in economics, finance, tax or accounting

At least three years of relevant experience as Indirect Tax professional

Experience working for a Big 4 accounting firm is preferred. However, we will consider candidates with from law firms or with relevant industry experience

Customs duty advisory experience is preferable, but we will also consider candidates with VAT/GST advisory experience

Job Description

We are currently seeking for passionate and dynamic Finance professionals who pride themselves on their ability to deliver extraordinary levels of customer service and provide creative solutions to our guests.

As an Accounts Supervisor - Payable you are responsible to check all invoices with purchase orders, control LPO’s and maintain contracts file in a smooth and effective way and in compliance with all policies, whereby your role will include key responsibilities such as:

• Control LPOs, check and verify long outstanding LPOs

• Check arithmetical accuracy, date, quality and receive stamp approval on the invoices with LPO or agreement

• Tally and receive total invoice and reconciliation of outstanding with total payable balance

• Follow up any discrepancies with the suppliers in writing

• Check and tally posted invoices with invoice totals and filed supplier-wise

• Ensure that other internal expense reports are approved by the Director of Finance / Financial Controller and the General Manager

• Ensure payment of internal expense reports with relevant approval e.g. salary, reimbursement of visa expenses to the Government Relations Officer, cash advance, loan, leave settlement, final settlement, etc.

• Ensure that all cheques to be locked and cheques should be endorsed

Skills

Education, Qualifications & Experiences

You should have a degree in hotel management or accounting and at least one year previous experience within a hotel environment. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and computer literacy is a must, while knowledge of Opera, Micros, FBM and SUN System is an asset.

Job Overview:

The Manager Accounting requires an in-depth understanding of accounting concepts, theories, and principles and basic knowledge of other related disciplines. The Manager of Accounting must be able to apply an understanding of the industry to improve effectiveness, provide guidance, and influence processes and policies for the accounting discipline as well as identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational problems that impact effectiveness. The Manager’s Accounting impacts the level of service and the accounting team’s ability to meet quality and timeliness objectives. Decisions made by the Manager of Accounting should be guided by policies, resource requirements, budgets, and the business plan.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Analysis, assessment, and reporting of monthly/quarterly project Gross Profit Movement, Breakeven, Loss Projects, and Combining Adjustments at a consolidated level

Assisting in preparation of monthly/annual financial forecast for major projects

Preparation of monthly analysis of project-specific current period results against forecasted results

Consolidation and analysis of quarterly project-related schedules

Preparation of monthly project adjustments (Dilution Risk, Revenue Combining, Loss Reserve adjustments)

Analysis and preparation of monthly reconciliation for Revenue, Backlog, and Public GP

Maintenance and consolidation of project-related corporate reports (Hyperion HFM and Planning)

Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures

Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures

Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA preferred

5-7 years of relevant experience

Experience with multiple accounting ERP and Consolidation systems is preferred

Strong understanding of ASC 606 – Revenue recognition standard and how it impacts project accounting

Strong technical and accounting skills and in-depth knowledge of project accounting

Highly analytical and excellent communication skills

Enjoy working in a changing and flexible environment

Demonstrated experience leading transformative change preferred
