Description

The Head of Corporate Insurance plays a critical role in protecting QR Group’s financial resilience, operational continuity and balance sheet through the strategic design, placement and management of aviation and non-aviation insurance programmes. Reporting to the Vice President Corporate Insurance, the role ensures that insurable risks are identified, quantified, transferred or retained in line with QR Group’s risk appetite, governance standards and the Chief Financial Officer’s requirements for cost-effective coverage, premium discipline, claims recovery, risk visibility and assurance over material exposures. The role provides specialist insurance leadership, market insight and ERM-aligned reporting to support informed executive decision-making, safeguard Group assets and liabilities, and strengthen the organisation’s preparedness for major operational, contractual and financial risk events.

Role Responsibilities

Develop and maintain QR Group’s aviation and non-aviation insurance strategy to ensure effective risk transfer, alignment with the Group’s risk appetite and resilience against material insurable exposures.
Lead the design, placement and renewal of cost-effective insurance programmes that provide appropriate protection for QR Group assets, operations, liabilities and strategic business activities.
Provide strategic insurance advice to senior management and key stakeholders to support informed decision-making on risk retention, risk transfer, claims strategy and emerging insurance market developments.
Embed insurance risk reporting within QR Group’s Enterprise Risk Management framework by monitoring key risk indicators, programme performance and material claims trends.
Strengthen governance over insurance procurement, policy administration, broker and insurer relationships, and claims oversight to ensure compliance, transparency and value for the Group.
Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the VP or SVP.
Manage the end-to-end placement, renewal and administration of QR Group insurance policies to ensure continuous and appropriate cover for aviation and non-aviation risks.
Coordinate claims notification, documentation, follow-up and settlement activities with internal stakeholders, brokers, insurers and loss adjusters to support timely recovery and effective claims outcomes.
Maintain accurate insurance records, policy schedules, certificates, premium data and renewal trackers to support audit readiness, compliance and business continuity.
Liaise with business units to assess insurable exposures, validate coverage requirements and obtain underwriting information required for policy placement and renewal.
Monitor broker and insurer service delivery, policy compliance, premium payments and claims progress to ensure agreed service standards and contractual obligations are met.
Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department
Deputise for the Vice President in key responsibilities including attendance at the Group Emergency Control Centre (GECC)
Support the VP Corporate Insurance in translating the Group insurance strategy into annual operating plans, renewal priorities and measurable departmental deliverables.
Prepare insurance programme updates, claims summaries, renewal recommendations and management reports for review by the VP Corporate Insurance and onward escalation to senior stakeholders.
Maintain effective working relationships with brokers, insurers, reinsurers, loss adjusters and other service providers to support competitive placement outcomes and efficient claims handling.

Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
Minimum 10 years of job-related experience
ACII qualified or progression towards ACII
Experience within the aviation, transport, logistics or complex multinational corporate environment.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance risk protection, premium cost, claims recovery and value-for-money outcomes.
Ability to operate confidently with senior stakeholders, including Finance leadership, Legal, Procurement, Risk, Operations and external insurance market partners.
Working knowledge of insurance analytics, exposure data, benchmarking, claims trends and management information to support evidence-based recommendations.
Extensive experience in corporate, aviation or complex commercial insurance, including programme design, placement, renewal management, claims oversight and insurance governance.
Proven experience leading, supervising and developing insurance professionals, including workload prioritisation, performance management, coaching, succession planning and quality assurance of team outputs.
Demonstrated experience managing brokers, insurers, reinsurers, loss adjusters, consultants and other third-party suppliers, including service performance, contractual deliverables, escalation management and value-for-money outcomes.
Strong experience preparing executive-level insurance reports, renewal recommendations, claims briefings and risk insights for senior management, finance leadership and governance forums.
Experience working with Finance, Legal, Procurement, Risk, Safety, Security and operational stakeholders to assess insurable exposures, negotiate insurance requirements and resolve complex coverage or claims matters.

Join our dynamic Legal and Compliance team as a Contracts and Claims Manager, based in Dubai, UAE. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects across the region, with flexibility to travel and support operations in KSA when required.

What are my responsibilities?

Review and analyze contract terms and conditions with customers and main subcontractors.
Identify contractual risks, opportunities, potential claims, and obligations.
Support project teams in understanding, interpreting, and applying contractual provisions.
Safeguard the company’s contractual entitlements through timely notifications and proper documentation.
Manage all claim-related activities, including correspondence, substantiation, and negotiation within the project scope.
Promote awareness of claim strategies and their operational implementation among project stakeholders.
Formulate and prepare incoming and outgoing claims in coordination with relevant project team members.
Maintain an up-to-date register of all claims, events, and contract documentation.
Support the procurement department in drafting and reviewing contractual documents.
Assist in reviewing tender documents and contracts to identify key terms, obligations, and potential risks.
Prepare clarifications and queries to clients during the tender stage.

What do I need to qualify for the role?

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any field) or a Commercial degree — ideally with specialization in Business Law, LLM, or similar.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in EPC projects within the Middle East region.
Solid understanding of contract structures, terms and conditions, and related legal implications.
Proven familiarity with FIDIC and other standard contract forms.
Experience in delay analysis and time extension claims.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Working knowledge of project planning and scheduling concepts.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
Effective team player with collaborative approach.

What you'll be doing

The purpose of this role is to support the protection of Chalhoub Group’s assets, inventory, people and liabilities through efficient administration of Group insurance arrangements and timely coordination with internal stakeholders, brokers and insurers.

The role helps ensure that coverage remains fit for purpose, cost-conscious, well documented and aligned with multi-country operating requirements. The job holder will support renewals, policy issuance, certificates of insurance, claims follow-up, exposure data collection and contract-review activities, while helping identify uninsured gaps and escalation points across Group operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support annual placement, renewal and endorsement processing for Group insurance policies across retail, warehouse, logistics, office, digital and corporate activities.
Prepare and validate underwriting submissions, exposure schedules, declarations, statements of values, claims histories and renewal packs for brokers and insurers.
Maintain a central insurance register covering policies, insurers, brokers, limits, deductibles, premiums, territories, endorsements, certificates and renewal dates.
Coordinate issuance, renewal and filing of certificates of insurance and ensure that landlord, mall, vendor, logistics partner and other third-party requirements are tracked and met.
Support the review of insurance clauses in leases, supplier agreements, logistics contracts, marketing or event agreements, fit-out or project documentation and other commercial contracts; escalate non-standard or high-risk requirements.
Continually monitor core insurance lines such as property damage and business interruption, stock or inventory and transit, marine cargo, public or product liability, employer’s liability or workers’ compensation, cyber, crime or fidelity, D&O support and project-specific covers where applicable.
Coordinate, oversee & monitor claims from first notification to closure, including document collection, broker and adjuster follow-up, reserve tracking, recovery actions and settlement reporting.
Liaise with Finance & Treasury on premiums, allocations, accruals and claims recoveries; support periodic reporting on premiums, losses, outstanding claims and renewal actions.
Partner with Legal & Compliance, People & Culture, Procurement, Retail Operations, Supply Chain & Logistics, Tech and Internal Audit to improve risk transfer, evidence of cover, incident reporting and policy compliance.
Support insurance requirements for new store openings, refurbishments, pop-ups, warehouses, cross-border stock movements, e-commerce launches and other operational change projects.
Assist with broker performance reviews, market benchmarking, audits and updates to insurance procedures, templates and controls.
Track local compulsory insurance requirements and evidence of cover across operating countries, escalating renewal risks, gaps or lapsed policies promptly.

What you’ll need to succeed

· Bachelor’s degree in insurance, risk management, business administration, finance, law or a related field.

Progress toward or interest in professional qualifications such as CII/ACII, CPCU, ARM or equivalent preferred.
Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and document-management skills; familiarity with ERP, claims or vendor-management systems is an advantage.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 10 years relevant experience in corporate insurance, brokerage, underwriting, claims, risk advisory or related insurance operations.
Experience working with multi-site or multi-country businesses is preferred.
Prior exposure to retail, distribution, consumer goods, logistics, warehousing or e-commerce risks is highly desirable.
Hands-on experience with renewals, policy administration, certificates of insurance, claims handling and broker or insurer coordination.
GCC or wider Middle East experience is preferred.
Experience reviewing insurance obligations in commercial contracts and coordinating with legal or procurement teams is an advantage.

Interfere with the Insurance Companies to solve and troubleshoot any problem related to patients’ Medical Insurance within the assigned Branch/Region.
Continuously review the efficiency of each Insurance Company’s response to Magrabi requests for approval and Claims and recommends solutions when needed
Develop Department Staffing Plan & Departmental Orientation Programs. Guide and Evaluate his/her Staff Performance, identify training needs & recommend training/development plans.
Ensure that all Out-Patient Credit activities within the assigned Branch/Region are monitored on daily basis.
Review Contracts and Price-lists to ensure that all have been applied correctly, and report any discrepancy to Contracts Department, Portal and IT for correction, either Internally or with 3rd party payers

Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine or similar field.
Minimum three years experiences in medical insurance field.
Demonstrable working knowledge of Medical Insurance management theories and practices.
Demonstrable leadership & problem-solving skills and abilities to provide objective directions, guidance and management.
Excellent written & spoken communication skills (Arabic & English)
Demonstrable working knowledge of JCI & CBAHI standards.
