JOB SUMMARY

Implements quality assurance processes and verifies training and development activities are strategically linked to the company’s mission, vision, brand standards, and targets customer needs. Verifies employee satisfaction and focuses on continuous improvement at the property level. This position champions the Quality function and builds support for change.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 4 years experience in the guest services, front desk, housekeeping, sales and marketing, management operations, or related professional area.

OR

• 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 years experience in the guest services, front desk, housekeeping, sales and marketing, management operations, or related professional area.

Essential Experience

• Experience and/or knowledge of hotel business.

• Ability to understand quality management practices and teaches to others.

• Ability to understand data collection methods.

• Knowledge of budget preparation and the control of costs.

• Working knowledge of statistical measurement tools.

• Effective presentation skills.

• Detail orientation and analytical

Desirable Experience

• Operations background – depending on hotel facilities, a rooms or f&b background may be preferred

• Previous training in guest relations.

• Previous experience using database, word processing, spreadsheet, graphic and statistical computer applications.

• Experience/trained in Six Sigma or TQM

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Managing Quality Assurance Goals

• Attends daily executive committee meetings to give real time updates on hotel performance, address guest incidences and attends monthly department meetings to enhance quality training.

• Presents and shares weekly analysis on defect trends, guest feedback and provides recommendations on focus areas.

• Coordinates a weekly quality meeting focusing on guestVoice, top incidents, and business standard audits.

• Records, tracks, and communicates the progress of quality related activities in the hotel to executive committee members, managers, associates, and the corporate office.

• Facilitates problem solving meetings to verify the systematic process is adhered to and quality tools are used, with the intent to achieve resolution.

• Facilitates process improvement teams, verifying use of the systematic processes, and improvement is achievable and measurable.

• Immerses in operations to better understand issues/defects faced on the ground.

• Drives several initiatives for business standard audits and guestvoice.

• Conducts monthly audit to verify compliance with company and brand standards.

• Makes and executes the necessary decisions to keep property moving forward toward achievement of goals.

• Directs property quality efforts to address critical customer requirements.

• Completes other reasonable duties as requested by leadership.

Executing Quality Training Programs

• Partners with Learning & Development (L&D) to train executive committee members and managers on problem solving, process improvement, and strategic planning techniques.

• Develops specific training designed to improve service performance.

• Drives brand values and philosophy in all training and development activities.

• Partners with L&D team to verify transfer of learning in the hotel/classroom takes place.

• Identifies performance gaps and works with managers to develop and implement appropriate training to improve performance.

• Partners with HR on hotel recognition program for associates to recognize associates for involvement in the quality process.

Managing Quality Tools

• Verifies that management practices at all levels are aligned with quality tools.

• Verifies the tools for continuous improvements are in place and being utilized.

• Uses data collection methods to identify, compile, display, track, and analyze defect trends.

Managing the Guest Experience

• Reviews guest feedback with leadership team and verifies appropriate corrective action is taken.

• Incorporates guest satisfaction as a component of departmental meetings with a focus on continuous improvement.

• Stays visible and interfaces with customers on a regular basis to obtain feedback on quality of product, service levels, and overall satisfaction.

• Supports operational leaders in the response and handling of guest feedback, problems, and complaints on various platforms (social media, TripAdvisor, etc.).

About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Doha the Assistant Purchasing Manager assists the Director of Purchasing Management and Purchasing Manager in all aspects of purchasing functions. The Assistant Purchasing Manager should handle and/or arrange for all purchasing requirements in the hotel and ensure best price have been achieved. To supervise the works of Purchasing Officers (buyers) and assure a smooth operation of the Purchasing Management department.

As Assistant Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties

• Maintaining a good relationship with all departments and Corporate Purchasing.

• Supervise, train and motivate Materials Management department colleagues and thoroughly understand all of their duties and responsibilities.
• Negotiate cost effective purchases for all supplies and services, while meeting all MOHG guidelines and quality specifications.
• Negotiate cost effective purchases for all Capex and FF&E items, while meeting all MOHG guidelines and quality specifications.
• Generate purchase orders on approval requisitions and obtain necessary authorization and obtain the authorization from the Director of Finance and General Manager prior to processing these orders.
• Obtain competitive price quotations and confirm purchase availabilities

• Sourcing suppliers.
• Assist in contract negotiations
• Ensure that there are sufficient supplies on hand for on all inventoried items for each department by coordinating regular inventories with Stores.
• Ensure that all items received by the hotel are properly documented in accordance with the company's purchasing and receiving procedures.

As Assistant Purchasing Manager, we expect from you:

• Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management and/or Accounting or equivalent
• Diploma/ Degree in purchasing/ procurement management
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in purchasing environment in a similar capacity in a 5-star hotel environment.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Cost Control
• Excellent knowledge of various Procurement /Purchasing Software (preferably Check SCM)
• Good verbal and writing skills in English
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, mainly excel

HVDC E2E SCM Value Chain Specialist – Saudi Arabia, Dammam

HVDC GI Valves is a business unit within Hitachi Energy, headquarters in Ludvika, Sweden, which develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine or underground cables. It is also used to connect power systems. Our business is now building a HVDC Converter Valve factory in Dammam, Saudi Arbia and we need to build a value chain foundation in Saudi Arabia that can collaborate with our Global Factory functions and Supply Chain team.

We are looking for an engaging and driven person to join the Factory Operations and Supply Chain Management team in HVDC Saudi Arbia as a E2E SCM Value Chain Specialist. As a Value Chain Specialist, you are involved in the full E2E value chain process. You will be dealing with material planning, production orders and executing PR-to-Pay procurement process. In addition, you will support the development and implementation of sourcing strategies in close alignment with the Global Category Managers. You will be a part of the daily operational work with suppliers and other functions within HVDC. This role requires that you are unpretentious for the job since you need to manage everything from strategies with global teams to material planning, material preparation, planning and procurement of material and follow-up to in our ERP system (SAP).

This is a role with many interfaces and interesting work tasks, and you will get great opportunities for learning and development. Your Responsibilities

• Support the end-to-end (E2E) Supply Chain Management (SCM) value chain setup for the new HVDC factory in Saudi Arabia, including processes, systems, and organizational alignment.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of SCM processes in SAP S/4HANA, covering planning, procurement, inventory management, and logistics execution, while supporting production preparation activities such as BOM structuring, routing alignment, and material availability strategies, and ensuring full integration of planning, procurement, warehouse, and production processes aligned with global templates and local requirements.
• Perform material planning and manage tactical and operational procurement activities for the factory and production, including initiating RFQs and creating Purchase Orders in SAP based on Purchase Requisitions in line with standard procedures, as well as confirming deliveries, managing schedules, and monitoring supplier performance against purchase order requirements.
• Maintain and ensure high-quality material master data in SAP, including governance of key planning and procurement parameters such as MRP settings, lead times, and sourcing strategies.
• Support Project Buyers during project execution by ensuring timely material availability and effective coordination with suppliers.
• Track goods receipts to verify delivery accuracy and support proper invoice processing, including resolving discrepancies when needed.
• Organize and execute day-to-day operational SCM activities, including data management, KPI tracking, and reporting.
• Oversee production preparation and material planning activities for production to ensure efficient allocation and utilization of resources and to secure material readiness for production.
• Support Global Category Managers in negotiations and sourcing strategies, identify new suppliers in collaboration with the global category team, and qualify new suppliers together with Supplier Quality and Category Management.
• Adapt corporate contractual frameworks to local business needs, recommend frame agreements to management, and execute approved agreements in coordination with Global Category Managers.
• Ensure secure and reliable material supply to support uninterrupted production at the factory.
• Collaborate closely with category managers, operational buyers, transport managers, logistics planners, and supplier quality engineers to ensure materials are procured, produced, and delivered on time, within budget, and meeting quality requirements across production and project sites.
• Act as a key interface toward stakeholders across tendering, production, and project execution phases.
• Ensure suppliers comply with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, certifications, and directives required by Hitachi Energy.
• Execute all procurement and logistics activities in accordance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
• Support the setup and optimization of warehouse and logistics processes, including inbound flows, storage, and internal material handling, while ensuring alignment between demand planning, procurement, and inventory levels.
• Monitor and analyze SCM KPIs such as OTIF, lead times, inventory levels, and supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the value chain.

Your Background

• Academic degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, and/or production preparation & material planning.
• Experience working with material planning, production planning, and supply processes; hands-on SAP S/4HANA experience is required.
• Good understanding of production processes, both practical and theoretical, with an interest in technical components and systems.
• Solid knowledge of material master data management and planning parameters (e.g., MRP, lead times, sourcing strategies).
• Familiarity with end-to-end SCM processes, including procurement, planning, inventory, and logistics flows.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.
• Proven ability to prioritize, react quickly, and maintain performance under stress.
• Strong self-leadership, discipline, and ability to work independently in environments where processes and structures are not yet fully established.
• Team-oriented with strong communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working with cross-functional and global stakeholders.
• Experience working in multicultural and international business environments.
• Energetic, motivated, and resilient, with the ability to navigate challenges and manage emerging issues effectively.
• Previous experience in a leadership or coordinating role is considered an advantage.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
