We need a Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer,

Department: IT & Cloud Infrastructure
Reporting to: Manager Business Continuity and Risk Management
Location: Manama, Bahrain
Job Purpose
To support the deployment, management, and maintenance of the organization’s cloud (AWS) and on-premises IT infrastructure. This role focuses on ensuring system availability, assisting with cloud resource provisioning, monitoring infrastructure health, and resolving routine technical issues while growing specialized expertise in cloud architecture and IT operations.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
Cloud Administration: Assist in provisioning, configuring, and managing core AWS services (including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, and IAM) under the guidance of senior engineers.
System Monitoring: Monitor cloud resource utilization, infrastructure health, and application performance using AWS CloudWatch and internal monitoring tools to ensure high availability.
Infrastructure Support: Provide day-to-day administration and troubleshooting for on-premises IT infrastructure, including physical servers, virtual machines, and basic network configurations.
Security & Compliance: Support the implementation of security best practices by managing IAM permissions, configuring security groups, and assisting with routine system patching and updates.
Automation & Scripting: Help automate repetitive operational tasks and routine deployments using basic scripting (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
Incident Resolution: Respond to and troubleshoot Level 1 and Level 2 IT infrastructure and cloud-related support tickets, escalating complex issues to senior team members when necessary.
Documentation: Create and maintain up-to-date documentation for infrastructure configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational runbooks.
Perform any other related tasks as requested.
Qualifications and Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cloud Computing, System Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
Required: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
Highly Preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate.
Nice to have: CompTIA Network+, Security+, or basic ITIL certification.
Work Experience
0 to 2 years of professional experience in IT operations, helpdesk support, systems administration, or cloud infrastructure.
Demonstrable hands-on experience working within the AWS console (internships, academic capstones, and personal portfolio labs are acceptable for entry-level candidates).
Experience troubleshooting Linux and Windows server environments.
Exposure to basic networking tasks and troubleshooting.
Skills and Knowledge
AWS Core Services: Foundational understanding of AWS compute, storage, database, and network services.
Operating Systems: Basic command-line proficiency and administration knowledge in Linux (e.g., Ubuntu, Amazon Linux) and Windows Server environments.
Networking Fundamentals: Understanding of core networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and basic subnetting.
Scripting: Ability to read and write basic scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate simple tasks.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Introductory knowledge or conceptual understanding of IaC tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation is a strong advantage.
Cloud Platforms & Containerization: Familiarity with cloud platforms and container technologies.
Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, a strong eagerness to learn, and the ability to communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
