We need a CEO, Middle East Renewables,
Purpose and Scope
To lead Sembcorp’s renewable energy business in the Middle East with accountability for regulatory engagement, government stakeholder management, business performance and future growth across the region.
A key requirement of this role is to build and maintain strong relationships with government bodies, regulatory authorities, utilities, shareholders, and strategic external stakeholders to support both current business continuity and future growth opportunities.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
External Stakeholder Management and Regulatory Affairs
- Develop and execute a comprehensive government relations and regulatory strategy for Sembcorp in Oman.
- Act as the primary representative and point of contact for Sembcorp with all relevant Omani government ministries, regulatory agencies and state-owned entities.
- Proactively build, maintain, and enhance strong, collaborative relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within Omani governmental and regulatory bodies.
- Lead the process of securing and maintaining all necessary permits, licenses, and statutory clearances required for Sembcorp’s operations and projects in Oman.
- Rigorously monitor for and analyse potential regulatory shifts and policy changes, advising senior management on their impact and positioning the business to adapt proactively.
Business Development, Project Execution and Leadership
- Develop and drive the regional business plan, including operational, commercial, and growth objectives.
- Work closely with business development and technical teams to improve competitiveness and increase success in future bids.
- Review project status, risks, milestones, cost, schedule, and operational outcomes regularly and drive timely resolution.
- Own the financial performance of the regional business, including budgets, reporting, profitability, and value delivery.
- Ensure strong commitment to health, safety, environmental, and sustainability standards across all activities.
- Ensure effective governance, decision-making, and performance management across the regional portfolio.
Qualification, Skills and Experience
- Engineering graduate. A management qualification will be an added advantage.
- Overall, 15 to 25 years’ experience in renewable energy / power / Utilities / T&D / EPC organisation. Min 5 yrs as a CXO role or Deputy CXO role.
- Strong experience in leading Regulatory Engagement and Compliance.
- Proven track record in stakeholder management-including government authorities, shareholders, partners, lenders, and contractors
- Experience in managing complex commercial, contractual, legal, and financial matters
- Experience working in the Middle East business environment
