Senior Engineer - Telemetry, Abu Dhabi, UAE

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer: Radio Frequency & Telemetry for Halcon to support the design, development, testing, integration, and qualification of advanced RF, microwave, and airborne telemetry systems for defence and aerospace applications. The successful candidate will contribute to RF subsystem development, telemetry architecture design, flight-test instrumentation, system integration, performance evaluation, and technology advancement across missile, UAV, and aerospace platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, and evaluate RF, microwave, electromagnetic, and telemetry systems, subsystems, and components for defence and aerospace applications.
Perform RF simulations, system modelling, measurements, testing, RF link-budget analysis, and communication performance assessments.
Design airborne telemetry hardware including RF transmitters, SDR architectures, power amplifiers, filtering networks, frequency generation, and data acquisition electronics.
Define telemetry architectures, including data packaging, parameter selection, sampling rates, frame structures, synchronization, bandwidth allocation, and data routing.
Develop and integrate telemetry communication schemes such as PCM/FM, PSK, QPSK, FSK, and Software Defined Radio (SDR)-based solutions.
Integrate telemetry systems with onboard communication interfaces including Ethernet, UDP/TCP, CAN, RS-422/485, serial interfaces, and avionics communication networks.
Develop and maintain system specifications, interface control documents, acceptance test procedures, verification plans, and engineering reports.
Support and lead laboratory testing, ground testing, factory acceptance testing, telemetry checkout, RF validation, and flight-test activities.
Conduct troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, telemetry performance evaluations, and post-flight data analysis
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 8 years of experience in RF engineering, telemetry systems, electromagnetic systems, wireless communications, or aerospace electronics.
Strong experience in RF system design, RF link-budget analysis, antenna systems, RF propagation, microwave networks, impedance matching, and communication performance optimization.
Experience designing airborne telemetry hardware including RF transmitters, SDR systems, power amplifiers, frequency generation circuits, filtering, and data acquisition electronics.
Strong knowledge of IRIG-106 telemetry standards, PCM telemetry, framing, synchronization, packetization, and telemetry data transmission architectures.
Hands-on experience with RF simulation and design tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, CST Studio Suite, HFSS, ADS, or Microwave Office.
Proficiency in RF laboratory measurements using Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers (VNA), Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, and related RF test equipment.
Experience with telemetry integration, telemetry ground stations, data decoding, data recording, parameter mapping, visualization, and real-time monitoring systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 
Experience in defence, aerospace, missile systems, UAVs, flight-test instrumentation, or other mission-critical environments.
Experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR), waveform implementation, digital modulation and demodulation techniques, and RF transceiver integration.
Knowledge of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, EMC/EMI design practices, environmental qualification standards, and aerospace certification requirements.
Experience with telemetry PCB schematic capture and layout design using Altium Designer or equivalent electronic design platforms.
Experience leading telemetry flight-test campaigns, including telemetry validation, system troubleshooting, and post-mission data analysis.
Strong understanding of systems engineering processes, including requirements management, design, integration, verification, validation, certification, and configuration management.

Key Responsibilities

Drive rigorous and structured approach to identifying and solving complex technology business problems that leads to strategic insights

Identify/prioritize value creation opportunities at the intersection of business and technology based on assessment activities and an understanding of high-level visions, performance gaps, and needs

Lead independently small engagements or stream of work end-to-end across all delivery components: client satisfaction, value delivered, teams management, financials, etc.

Qualification
Proven experience in IT/Digital technology strategy

Proven and relevant past consulting experience; alternatively strong in-house IT & Digital strategy / enterprise architecture division / advanced startup / pre-sales roles (and demonstration of intrinsic consulting skills)

Arabic speaking must and fluent English.

Strong data-driven consulting with focus on business and technology value architecting and realization

Ability to act independently to determine methods and procedures on assignments

Management of team efforts at a client or within Accenture

Ability to pull-through business opportunities

Experience and understanding of core technology strategy offerings – IT & Digital technology strategy, enterprise architecture, operating model, data & analytics, cloud

Experience in technology advisory and/or implementation

Ability to operate cross industry, with preferred experience in Banking, Telcos, Oil&Gas, and/or Government

Pro-actively acquired business knowledge beyond technical role or via business school i.e. MBA

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the overall construction supervision activities across all infrastructure work packages and disciplines.

Oversee construction of roads, earthworks, stormwater, sewerage, potable water, irrigation, electrical networks, street lighting, telecommunications, landscaping, public realm, and associated infrastructure works.

Ensure construction activities comply with approved IFC/shop drawings, specifications, method statements, material approvals, ITPs, contractual requirements, and authority standards.

Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary supervision teams, including REs, AREs, Engineers, Inspectors, Surveyors, Material Engineers, QA/QC, HSE, Planning, Commercial, and Document Control personnel.

Monitor construction progress against the approved programme, identify delays and critical activities, and coordinate appropriate mitigation and recovery measures.

Review Contractor manpower, equipment, productivity, work fronts, construction sequencing, and short-term programmes.

Manage interfaces between different infrastructure packages, contractors, utilities, buildings, landscaping, and other development components.

Coordinate with the Design Team to resolve RFIs, design discrepancies, constructability issues, utility clashes, technical queries, and site constraints.

Lead construction, progress, technical, coordination, risk, and interface meetings and ensure timely closure of agreed actions.

Maintain effective coordination with the Client, PMC, Contractors, government authorities, utility providers, developers, and other stakeholders.

Ensure implementation of project QA/QC and HSE requirements and monitor timely closure of NCRs, observations, and corrective actions.

Identify construction, programme, stakeholder, and interface risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.

Support the Project Manager and Commercial Team in reviewing variations, claims, EOT matters, payment applications, and other contractual/commercial issues.

Qualifications

Minimum of 15 years post-undergraduate experience plus 5 years in a senior technical position.

Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering field (i.e. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural etc) and PMP preferable, plus membership of a recognized professional institution preferred

What is an ATS CV?

Applicant Tracking System or "ATS", is the software that 'READS' your CV and stores this information in a database. Like this:

If the CV is not made as per the RULES of the ATS, the information will get messed up in the database. In the image below, 'PMP' has gone into the 'Mobile Number' column. The Mobile Number '052 1234567' has gone into the 'Main Skill' column.

So a recruiter searching for a candidate with PMP certification, will never find this person, in spite of his 'CV information' existing in the database...
